The TECIP Manual
The TECIP Manual
What is TECIP?
Every school year, many students and teachers will experience a traumatic event. When this occurs, the building, or school district team is often called upon to manage the reaction that follows. Unfortunately, relatively few schools have formalized a well articulated set of procedures and materials that can serve to immediately direct a proactive building response once students and staff have experienced, or been informed of, a traumatic event. With this recognition, the primary purpose of this manual (and recommended training program) is to facilitate development of a proactive school focused building response plan (e.g., Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan . . . TECIP) which can be readily implemented following exposure, either directly or indirectly, to a traumatic event.
The Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan (TECIP), the flagship program of Crisis Oriented Planning and Educational Services, LLC., is a field tested school-based framework designed to meet the emotional and psychological needs of students and staff in the AFTERMATH of a traumatic event. There are two main systems make up TECIP framework that will be discussed in this manual: The Management Protocol & the Intervention Strategies.
